Jessica Northrop has been working in the field of mental health for nearly 20 years and has been consistently building her skills since 2000. She began this type of work with a simple desire to help others. She has been able to combine her natural ability to establish rapport, listen, and show empathy to others with years of education, research, and skills, she can help her clients achieve their goals. -- Jessica has been successful in helping clients to manage problems associated with depression, eating disorders, trauma, personality disorders, substance abuse, suicidal thinking, and anxiety.
Jessica has worked in the areas of medical social work with hospice as well as in acute care as Social Work Supervisor with the University of Virginia Health System. She had a thriving private practice in Virginia and then moved to Florida where she provided therapy in a substance abuse treatment center. She has been further honing her skills in the field of mental health by focusing on community mental health for the past 3 years.
Currently, Jessica is licensed in the states of Georgia and Florida so she is available for online services throughout the entirety of both states in addition to all services provided in her office in Dallas, GA. She will offer a discounted rate for military veterans and families upon request. Jessica accepts Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicare, and VA benefits (with referral from VA). For all other insurance plans, she will work with her clients to leverage out-of-network benefits if needed.
Jessica has a warm and inviting presence with the competence needed to truly effect change. One of Jessica’s mantras comes from a rather unexpected place, a television commercial. Home Depot’s ad tells us “you can do it…we can help”.
There is no therapist of any discipline (physical, speech, occupational, mental health, etc.) who can do the work for you. Jessica is no exception.
What she can do, however, is to give you the tools for success, teach you what needs to be taught, and help you harness your motivation and energy. She can help you better define your goals without inserting any of her own. You can do this, and she can help!
Educational and Professional Background
